Aside from her incredible acting resume, Swedish actress Alicia Vikander is renowned for her red carpet attire. From romantic Louis Vuitton dresses covered in ruffles and floral prints to – well that’s it really – the woman loves LV! And her earrings are just as attention-grabbing. For someone who’s prone to sporting plenty of diamonds, Vikander somehow manages to make them appear elegant and understated. It goes without saying that she is one of the few people who can wear a diamond set piece on almost every body part and still get away with it.
It’s for this reason that we feel it’s our utmost duty to give you the 7 Best Earrings Worn By Alicia Vikander On The Red Carpet (with some affordable jewellery lookalikes, of course, because we’re nice like that)…
To kick things off, we simply must go back to 2016 when Vikander wore a blue floral Louis Vuitton dress to The Light Between Oceans premiere in London. Her vintage style gown had a ruffled waist and a sweetheart neckline which looked fresh and youthful coupled with her diamond Bulgari drop earrings. Seldom will you see Vikander wearing both a necklace and a pair of earrings and that’s because her dresses and earrings are usually vibrant enough!

In 2018, guests wore black to the Golden Globes in honour of the Time’s Up movement which started as a direct retaliation against sexual harassment in the workplace, particularly the movie industry. But in Vikander's case, black did not equal boring. In fact, the dress code forced attendees to be a tad more inventive with their outfits, and because the rule didn’t apply to jewellery, many of them wore statement pieces to accentuate their gowns.
The Ex Machina actress wore a Gothic dress by Louis Vuitton with a pair of Bulgari snake head earrings. The earrings (from Bulgari’s Serpenti collection) are made of 18Kt white-gold and set with diamonds, sapphires and emeralds. Precious stones, especially emeralds, were a huge hit on the red carpet that year – it goes without saying that black looks amazing with a sprinkle of colour.
For the Tomb Raider premiere in Mexico City back in 2018, Vikander wore an off-the-shoulder Louis Vuitton dress in lemon yellow paired with a stunning set of Ana Khouri white-gold and diamond ‘Izabel' earrings. The earrings have a discreet post at the back and their unique design gives them a draping effect. It’s near impossible to find jewels with a similar design but these Charlie Morgan ear climbers, made of sterling silver and cubic zirconia, are a great alternative.
During Vikander's global Tomb Raider tour, the leading lady wore enough juicy ensembles to last a whole blog post. For the London premiere, the actress wore a silky floral print dress by (you guessed it!) Louis Vuitton with a pair of Dauphin diamond-encrusted earrings. The geometric earrings, made of 18Kt yellow-gold and 2.25-carat diamonds, were minimalist enough to complement the dress, yet still very very eye-catching.
In 2016, Vikander won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Danish Girl. She collected her Oscar in an embroidered dusty yellow Louis Vuitton dress which she accessorised with a pair of diamond chandelier earrings (also by LV).
The earrings, from the Dentelle de Monogram collection, are made of 18Kt white-gold and their pattern resembles the famous flower and star motif seen on Louis Vuitton bags. The pattern was heavily influenced by Victorian lace – the word “dentelle” means lace in French. From afar, the earrings look like shreds of sparkly lace, not unlike these sterling silver and cubic zirconia earrings by Latelita London.
The Met Gala, an annual fundraising ball for the Met’s Costume Institute, is renowned for its outlandish themes but their 2018 theme was somewhat controversial. Named 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination', the gala bore witness to an array of stunning religious inspired garments, from Rihanna’s pope headpiece by John Galliano to Gigi Hadid’s angelic Versace dress. And Vikander didn’t fail in that department either. The actress wore a custom made nun-like dress by Louis Vuitton with a pair of white-gold Nikos Koulis earrings.
The jewels (from the Oui collection) are adorned with white diamonds and black enamel. Their art-deco design has a modern twist much like these marcasite earrings with black onyx by Gemondo!
Last but not least, we simply have to list the Boucheron earrings Vikander wore to the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. These white-gold cascade earrings from the Hotel de la Lumière collection are embellished with 8-carat white diamonds. In her Shakespearian grey velvet Valentino dress, Vikander looked like a modern-day Juliet.
